Bipartisan lawmakers have stepped into a dispute between the nation’s largest hospital systems and its biggest pharmaceutical company over divvying up revenue from prescription drug sales. Seventy-two members of Congress signed a June 29 letter urging the Department of Health and Human Services to reinstate huge discounts on prescription drugs currently being withheld from certain hospitals by Eli Lilly. Billions of dollars in product discounts are at stake, which drug manufacturers are obligated to offer under certain conditions.
